Trading & Operations Manager (Chicago) - help create a state-of-the-art investment management open architecture infrastructure for a private equity funded newly created business (ETF's, internally managed funds, hedge funds) within a $100b sub-advised fund. Work directly with the PM's to create the risk and analytics solution and with the head of operations, trading and complaince. Unusual opportunity to design the complete IM infrastructure from the ground-up. Hybrid work schedule. Total compensation $150k - $200k and compensation will not prevent hiring the best.
Summary
Open architecture investment management platform (equity/fixed income/alternatives) seeks Trading and Operations Manager to support Portfolio Managers and help manage day to day operations. Candidates should possess understanding of common investment/trading processes and prior experience in investment operations, middle office, or buy side execution.
Key Responsibilities
Gain full understanding of firm trade lifecycle, portfolio operations (Eze OMS), and firm dynamics in order to lead/oversee portfolio implementation processes; ensure smooth investment/operational efficiency
Work closely with Portfolio Implementation Director to implement investment strategy in timely fashion; deliver efficient trade execution/settlement and collateral management across portfolios
Work with external vendors (outsourced operations) across middle/back office, custodian, execution, and fund accounting
Oversee cash inflows/outflows; ensure efficient execution of investment mandate/client instructions
Assist with timely/effective portfolio rebalancing (including complex transitions/restructures/product launches/closures)
Ongoing monitoring of investment positions/asset allocations/cash positions/FX sweeps across portfolios
Monitor mandate restrictions/portfolio compliance; liaise with Compliance as needed
Work closely with IT to ensure data integrity and improve functionality
Develop rapport with internal partners to manage projects, communicate initiatives, and contribute to organization

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; Business Administration, Accounting or Finance focus preferred
5+ years direct experience in asset management, hedge funds, or buy side trading desk, investment ops, middle office, or investment assistant role
Experience with multiple investment vehicles (SMAs/mutual funds/CITs/ETFs)
