Our client is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and highly motivated investment professional to join the team as Managing Director, Investments. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-asset class portfolios, integrate impact-oriented strategies, and provide exceptional investment and relationship management to support the long-term mission and values of the firm.
About the Position
The Managing Director, Investments will oversee the firm’s holistic investment strategy, integrating mission-aligned principles and long-term financial objectives. This leader will be responsible for shaping and executing the investment vision across asset classes, advising principals, and guiding the investment team to achieve best-in-class performance and impact. The role requires deep technical expertise, strategic foresight, and an exceptional ability to build trust-based relationships with principals and partners across the firm and broader investment ecosystem.
What you will do
This position provides strategic leadership of the firm’s investment portfolios and acts as a trusted advisor to the firm’s leadership. The Managing Director will lead the design and implementation of integrated investment strategies, oversee performance and risk management, and ensure alignment of investments with financial, impact, and estate planning objectives. The role requires outstanding investment acumen, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to mission-driven, long-term results.
Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted investment advisor to a firm, proactively anticipating needs, providing strategic counsel and delivering best-in-class client service.
Carry forward the firm’s holistic investing mission and vision, integrating impact alignment into all aspects of strategy and execution. Develop and oversee a comprehensive investment strategy that reflects the firm’s values, leveraging internal and external providers.
Evaluate, oversee and monitor numerous investment portfolios including taxable portfolios and donor-advised funds. Investments span multiple asset classes such as public and private equity, venture capital, fixed income and commercial real estate, and include direct, thematic, and impact investments. Ensure all strategies advance both long-term financial and impact objectives.
Align investment strategies and asset allocation with estate planning objectives, collaborating with internal and external advisors to support both generational and transferred wealth.
Monitor, analyze, and report on holistic investment performance across portfolios and strategies, embedding mission orientation and impact metrics into reporting.
Provide governance and oversight, serving on advisory boards and investment committees for various internal and external investment initiatives.
Shape the investment team’s structure and resourcing to build capabilities and expertise that support mission alignment for the household over the long term.
Act as a thought partner, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Leverage expertise across the firm, integrating interdisciplinary insights to support the firm’s financial and impact objectives.
Represent the household and its investing mission externally, as appropriate, within the broader investment community.

Qualifications required for your success
Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree required; CFA designation or an advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 15 years in investment management. Strong background working directly with Hight Net Worth families and navigating the complexity of family office operations is preferred.
Investment Expertise: Proven experience managing complex, multi-asset class portfolios across both public and private markets. Experience in impact investing and emerging managers is preferred.
Relationship Management: Ability to cultivate and maintain trusted, collaborative, long-term relationships with principals, advisors, and investment partners.
Strategic Judgment: Exceptional diplomacy, discretion, empathy, and sound judgment in high-stakes decision-making.
Problem-Solving Skills: A proactive and analytical mindset with the ability to navigate complexity and deliver innovative solutions.
Communication Excellence: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Comfortable in challenging assumptions with the ability to articulate conviction in support of recommendations.
